01 — The problem

An independent gym going up against the franchises.

Iron Colosseum is owned and run by Richie Cialabrini — a natural pro bodybuilder, no franchise call-center, no lock-in contracts. That independence is the whole appeal, but it's also the hard part: the big-box chains have brand recognition and ad budgets he can't match.

The site needed to do three things at once, on a phone, in a few seconds: look serious enough for real lifters, build instant trust in a one-person operation, and get someone to actually book a free workout instead of just scrolling past.

02 — What I changed & why

Every choice points at one action: come in and lift.

  1. Went dark, bold, and high-contrast

Franchise gyms are all bright blues and stock smiles. I built the opposite — near-black, crimson-and-gold, heavy display type — so the site feels like the room it's selling. The look does the positioning before a word is read.

  2. Led with the free workout

The strongest hook a gym has is "try before you join." I made Claim your free workout the primary button in the hero and brought it back at every natural stopping point — each one wired to tap-to-call, so interest turns into a booking without a form to fill out.

  3. Built trust in the operator, not a brand

A stats bar (24/7 access, 15+ years coaching, 0 contracts) and an honest "built by a lifter, for lifters" section about Richie answer the real question a stranger has: can I trust this place, and this person?

  4. One fast page, phone-first

Everything a prospective member needs — what you get, the offer, the call button — lives on a single hand-coded page with no bloat, so it loads instantly on the phone where most local gym searches actually happen.

  5. Wired in the local details

Real neighborhood, real phone number, and clear membership language baked into the page — the groundwork for showing up when someone nearby searches for a gym in Crystal Lake.

On the phone

Where most members actually decide.

The whole layout collapses to a single, thumb-friendly column — the call button stays in reach, and the free-workout offer is never more than a scroll away.

03 — The result

One link that turns a search into a booked workout.

Iron Colosseum now has a front door that matches the gym: fast, serious, and pointed straight at the free-trial offer. It's the single link Richie can put on Google, Instagram, and the door — and it does the selling.
